i lost my phone!

i lost my phone today on my way home and i think either the taxi driver or the guy working on some festive lights on the trees near the office has it.

i was on the bus stop when i realized that it was missing so i borrowed a co-passenger's phone to call my mobile. voila! a guy answered the call. i told him that i own that phone and asked him if he could return it to me. he said yes, but he also said that he wants something in return. he said "i want you." i was scared and said i'd just call him back.

when i arrived home, i called my mobile again and he answered again. i asked him if he was the taxi driver and where he found it. he told me he's not the driver and he just picked it up on the ground near [the office]. he was asking me where i was so he could give it to me. he didn't demand for anything this time but of course, i didn't tell him where i was and just said that i was in a hotel and just using the security's phone. he agreed to meet me tomorrow near the office to give me my phone.

i'm scared of the guy and i have this feeling that he'll blackmail me or do something bad when i meet him tomorrow. but i still need to get my phone back. [i don't really care much about the phone but the personal info i have there, aside from my mobile number, which i need to keep.] i'm planning to have some security staff with me tomorrow. i just don't know how yet.

this is the second time i've lost a phone. the first time was hehe.. very funny actually. reminds me of that unforgettable bday party. :D You can click here should you wish to reminisce with me: http://jsfiles.multiply.com/journal/item/47/Bye_bye_phones.. haha

anyways, lesson's learned:

1. always always mega always check your belongings when getting down the taxi or bus or whatever. i always do that but i failed to do that today because i was busy looking at the arriving bus.

2. don't attach your key to your mobile. i actually used my phone as my key chain. haha. stupid me. i think i'm the only one who does that. so there, good thing they have a spare key at the reception- i was able to enter the unit.

3. don't store personal info in your mobile unless it is secured or password protected. i don't really store personal info on my mobile but i'm just afraid that there might be bits of info like accnt numbers on the messages or in the phonebook.

4. memorize at least 5 numbers of the people closest to you in case of emergency. Good thing i know my housemate's number and i have my officemate's number in my email.

more lessons to be learned tomorrow, i guess...
